RF mode detects devices that are actively transmitting, such as WiFi cameras and cellular bugs. Cameras that only record to a memory card send no signal, which is what the laser lens finder is for. No detector can promise to catch every device, but a slow sweep using both modes covers the most common hiding spots.
Phones, routers, smart speakers, and laptops all send out wireless signals. For the clearest reading, set personal devices aside and note where the room's router sits before starting a sweep.
Yes. The magnetic sensor helps locate GPS trackers attached to metal surfaces, and RF mode picks up trackers that report location over a cellular network. Wheel wells, bumpers, and the space under seats are good places to start.
Most rooms can be checked in a few minutes by starting with the common hiding spots: smoke detectors, clocks, outlets, chargers, vents, and anything facing the bed or shower.
The detector only receives signals. It does not block, jam, or record anything, and using a receive-only detector to check a personal space is generally legal in Canada and the US.
It charges with the included USB cable and runs about 8 to 10 hours on a full charge.
