It is built as a universal fit. Adjustable straps anchor over the headrests at the front and back of the bench, which covers most sedans, SUVs and trucks. Measuring the bench width before ordering is worth the two minutes on unusually narrow or unusually wide vehicles.
Without it, the space between the bench and the front seats is an open gap that a dog sinks into on corners and stops. The rigid panel bridges that gap so the whole area becomes one flat surface, which is why dogs tend to lie down on it instead of standing braced.
