It genuinely floats. Magnets in the base and inside the moon repel each other with enough force to carry the moon's weight, so there is roughly an inch of open air underneath with nothing connecting the two pieces. A hand passes cleanly through the gap.
The first attempt takes a little patience and most people manage it within a few tries. The base sits on a flat non metallic surface and gets plugged in, then the moon is lowered slowly with both hands from a few inches above, held level. When an upward push becomes noticeable, that is the balance point, and releasing slowly there sets it floating. If it drops, it simply gets lifted and tried again.
No. Nothing physically touches the moon while it turns, so there is no motor contact, no bearing, and no friction to create sound. It spins silently.
No. The base runs from a standard wall outlet using the included adapter, so there is nothing to recharge and no batteries to replace. The remote uses its own small battery.
Yes. The LEDs run cool and are designed for extended use, so it works as an overnight night light at low brightness. The base should stay plugged in while the moon is levitating.
A soft dry or slightly damp cloth removes dust from the moon and the wood base. It should be switched off and unplugged first. Harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, and excess moisture should be avoided, and the moon should be lifted off the base before cleaning underneath.
There are 16 colors plus several dynamic fading modes, all controlled by the included remote. Brightness is adjusted separately, so any color can run bright as an accent light or dimmed to a soft background glow.
