Each strap has a sprung clip at either end. The clips grip the fitted sheet near the corner and the elastic runs underneath the mattress, holding tension so the sheet is pulled down and flat.
No. The clips attach at the corners with the bed made up, which is why fitting takes a couple of minutes rather than a full strip-down.
Yes. The elastic adjusts along its length, so one set covers everything from a thin guest bed through a deep pillow top.
That is one of the better uses for them. When a fitted sheet's own elastic has gone slack, the straps take over the job of holding the corners down.
