The whole underside is backed with a non-slip layer that grips smooth flooring, so it holds position through a normal morning routine instead of sliding when you step on the edge. Keep the backing itself dry and the grip stays strong. On a floor that's already wet underneath, no mat grips properly, so wipe the spot before laying it down.
The long pile lets air move through it, so a normal amount of water works its way out within a few hours in a ventilated bathroom. If your bathroom has no window or fan, hang it over the tub edge after a shower and it'll be ready by the next one.
